Allen & Kirmse, Ltd. has been a mainstay of the Louisiana oil and gas community for over 30 years. It was founded in 1982 in Lafayette, Louisiana by Durelle Allen; Randy Kirmse and David Allen were landmen with the firm at that time. In 1984, Randy Kirmse established the Denver office of Allen & Kirmse. The Lafayette office is led by Durelle and David Allen, brothers, and both Louisiana attorneys.

Since its inception in 1982, the Lafayette office of Allen & Kirmse has limited its work almost exclusively to the State of Louisiana. However, in 2014 we accepted an abstracting and title curative project in the Marcellus Shale in West Virginia. Our team on this project has grown from our four landmen and abstracters at the beginning to seventeen by May, 2015.

In addition to Louisiana and West Virginia, our landmen and abstracters have substantial experience in numerous other states, including the following:

  • Pennsylvania
  • Ohio
  • Colorado
  • Texas
  • Arkansas
  • Mississippi

As we have grown, we have sought to identify landmen and abstracters with exceptional abilities to function as project supervisors. These provide the organization of individual projects while working in the office and in the field on those projects; they interact directly with our clients. These project supervisors are truly partners in that they participate in the profits generated by the firm.
